About Spring Airlines

Spring Airlines was founded in 2004 by the Spring Tour travel agency and began flying in 2005 as China's first low-cost carrier. Operating from Shanghai, it proved the budget model could work in the Chinese market and expanded steadily at home and into Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.

Spring Airlines flies an all-Airbus A320-family fleet in high-density layouts from bases including Shanghai Hongqiao and Pudong. The airline is known for strict cost discipline, from minimal frills to lightweight seats, and it operates a Japanese subsidiary, Spring Airlines Japan, which was later brought under JAL ownership.
