Flight Tracking in MSFS on Xbox, Explained

Microsoft Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X|S has one well-known gap for serious pilots: there is no way to run the external tracking programs that virtual airlines rely on. ACARS clients, VATSIM pilot clients and logbook tools are all PC programs, and Xbox does not allow external apps or SimConnect connections. That is why searching for an MSFS Xbox flight logger or a virtual airline for Xbox has never had a satisfying answer.

In-sim toolbar apps change that. Distributed through the official MSFS Marketplace, they run inside the simulator itself with access to aircraft position, altitude, speed and fuel, on console just as on PC. The JSV Toolbar uses exactly this route: it tracks your flight from inside MSFS and files it to your JetStream Virtual logbook automatically, with live map tracking while you fly. Until it ships, Xbox pilots can already fly with JetStream Virtual today by dispatching with SimBrief on the website and filing flight reports manually after landing.

JetStream Virtual is a free virtual airline with over 200 real-world airlines and 300,000 real scheduled routes, flown in MSFS 2024, MSFS 2020, X-Plane and Prepar3D. Membership is free; the toolbar is the missing piece that gives Xbox captains the same automatic logging PC pilots enjoy, targeted for the end of 2026.

Xbox Pilots, Frequently Asked

Yes. JetStream Virtual already welcomes Xbox pilots: dispatch with SimBrief on the website, fly in MSFS, and file your flight manually afterwards. The toolbar will replace that manual step with live automatic tracking.

Xbox does not allow external programs, so classic ACARS clients cannot run. In-sim toolbar apps installed from the MSFS Marketplace are the one supported way to add functionality on console, which is exactly what the JSV Toolbar will be.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox Series X and Series S first. MSFS 2020 and PC support for the same toolbar will be evaluated during development.

The target is release by the end of 2026: development through autumn 2026, then Microsoft Marketplace review. Signing up is the best way to speed it up, and everyone on the list gets the release email first.

Yes, membership stays free for everyone. The pricing question on this page is only about the optional Xbox toolbar.
