About Air Mauritius

Air Mauritius was founded in 1967, initially as a handling and ticketing operation, and began flying under its own name in 1972. It developed into a significant long-haul carrier for the Indian Ocean, entered voluntary administration during the 2020 downturn, and emerged restructured with government backing the following year.

The red paille-en-queue, a tropicbird native to Mauritius, appears on every tail. From Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport the airline flies A350-900s and A330-900neos to Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, while ATR 72s make the short hop to Rodrigues Island. Paris has been a cornerstone of the network for decades.
