STARLUX Airlines was founded in 2018 by Chang Kuo-wei, the former chairman of EVA Air, and flew its first services from Taipei in January 2020, weeks before the pandemic closed borders. Conceived as a premium Taiwanese carrier, it held to that positioning through the downturn and expanded steadily once travel recovered.
The all-Airbus fleet spans A321neos, A330neos and A350-900s in a champagne-gold and charcoal livery. From its Taipei Taoyuan hub the network covers Japan, Southeast Asia and trans-Pacific routes to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, and the cabin design follows a deliberate boutique-luxury theme unusual among newer airlines.
