About Surinam Airways
Surinam Airways was founded in 1953 and grew from domestic flying into the flag carrier of Suriname. Operating from Paramaribo's Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport, it has long maintained the historic air link with Amsterdam, a legacy of the Dutch colonial relationship, alongside regional services around the Caribbean and South America.
The airline runs a compact operation in which a single widebody has typically carried the flagship Amsterdam route, for years an Airbus A340 and more recently leased aircraft.
