About Air Tahiti Nui
Air Tahiti Nui was founded in 1996 in Papeete as French Polynesia's international flag carrier, beginning flights in 1998 to Los Angeles. Created to reduce the territory's dependence on foreign airlines for tourism, it has remained focused on long-haul links between Tahiti and the wider world.
The airline operates four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, each named after Polynesian islands, in a distinctive tiare flower livery. During pandemic restrictions in 2020 its Papeete to Paris service via a technical stop waiver became one of the longest nonstop flights ever operated, and its routes remain among aviation's longest overwater sectors.
