Advanced Air was founded in 2005 as a charter operator at Hawthorne Municipal Airport in Los Angeles County. It added scheduled commuter flights in 2017 under the Advanced Airlines brand, initially linking Hawthorne with Carlsbad and Mammoth Lakes. The company later won Essential Air Service contracts in New Mexico and California and still combines scheduled service with charter and aircraft management.
The scheduled network centres on Hawthorne and Phoenix, with Essential Air Service routes from Albuquerque to Angel Fire and from Albuquerque and Phoenix to Silver City. Gallup and Crescent City are also served. The fleet is built around the Beechcraft King Air 350 and the Dornier 328JET, supported by a Pilatus PC-12 and business jets used for charter work.
