About Sichuan Airlines

Sichuan Airlines was established in 1986 in Chengdu and began scheduled flights in 1988. It developed from a provincial operator into one of China's largest independent carriers, building a network that connects southwestern China with the rest of the country and international destinations across Asia and beyond.

Sichuan Airlines flies an all-Airbus fleet including the A350-900, with several aircraft in panda-themed liveries honouring its home province. Its crews are experienced in high-altitude operations to Tibetan plateau airports, and Flight 8633, which landed safely in 2018 after a cockpit windscreen failure, was dramatised in the film The Captain.
