About flydubai
flydubai was established in 2008 by the government of Dubai and operated its first flight in June 2009. Conceived as a low-cost complement to Emirates, it expanded rapidly from Dubai International, opening routes to cities with little or no prior service from the UAE and building close commercial ties with Emirates through codesharing.
The airline flies an all-Boeing 737 fleet, including 737-800s and 737 MAX aircraft with lie-flat business seats on some frames. From its Dubai base it reaches the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Eastern Europe, serving many secondary airports that larger widebody operators skip, which gives its network an unusually varied character.
