Fiji Airways traces its roots to 1947 and spent most of its history as Air Pacific, a name adopted in 1971 as it grew into the South Pacific's regional carrier. In 2013 the airline rebranded back to Fiji Airways, refocusing on its role as the national carrier of Fiji.
The airline's livery features a Masi symbol drawn by Fijian artist Makereta Matemosi, a traditional design unique among world carriers. From its Nadi hub it links the Pacific islands with Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US West Coast, using Airbus A350-900s on long-haul routes and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft regionally, plus turboprops for inter-island hops.
