About Gulf Air
Gulf Air was founded in 1950 as Gulf Aviation and for decades served as the shared flag carrier of Bahrain, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Oman. As each state launched its own airline, the partners withdrew, and since 2007 Gulf Air has been wholly owned by Bahrain as its national carrier.
The golden falcon livery is one of the Gulf region's longest-standing airline identities. From Bahrain International Airport the carrier flies Boeing 787-9s and Airbus A320neo family jets across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. It is title sponsor of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first Formula 1 race held in the Middle East, and has painted special F1 liveries.
