About Air Greenland
Air Greenland was founded in 1960 as Gronlandsfly to connect settlements along Greenland's icebound coast, where aviation is often the only practical transport. Owned largely by the Greenlandic government, it adopted its current name in 2002 and has served for decades as the territory's lifeline to Denmark and between its own towns.
The airline's bright red aircraft include an Airbus A330-800neo named Tuukkaq, one of very few A330-800s flying worldwide, used on the Copenhagen route. Dash 8 turboprops and a large helicopter fleet reach short gravel and coastal strips. In 2024 the flagship route moved from Kangerlussuaq to Nuuk after a new runway opened at the capital.
