About Iraqi Airways

Iraqi Airways was founded in 1945, making it one of the oldest airlines in the Middle East. Its history mirrors Iraq's own: growth through the mid-century, then decades of interruption from wars and international sanctions, followed by a gradual rebuilding of fleet and network after 2003.

The flag carrier operates from Baghdad International Airport, with additional operations at Basra, Najaf and Erbil. Its modern fleet centers on Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX aircraft along with Airbus jets including A220-300s.
