About ITA Airways
ITA Airways was founded in 2020 and began flying in October 2021 as the state-backed successor to Alitalia, inheriting the role of Italy's national carrier but starting with a clean corporate slate. In early 2025 Lufthansa Group completed the purchase of a minority stake, beginning ITA's integration into the German group.
ITA's deep blue livery honors Italy's national sports colors, and its aircraft are named after Italian athletes. From the Rome Fiumicino hub, with a secondary base at Milan Linate, it flies Airbus A350-900s, A330neos and A320neo family jets to Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. Selected aircraft carry a celebratory light blue Born in 2021 scheme.
