About Lion Airlines

Lion Air was founded in 1999 and began flying in 2000 from Jakarta, growing into Indonesia's largest private airline and the anchor of the Lion Group, which includes Batik Air, Wings Air and Super Air Jet. In 2011 it placed what was then the largest order in Boeing's history, for 230 aircraft.

The airline operates a large Boeing 737 fleet, including 737-800s, 737-900ERs and MAX aircraft, from its Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta base. Its dense domestic network threads the Indonesian archipelago, feeding and competing across thousands of islands, with international routes to Southeast Asia and Saudi Arabia. The red lion tail is among the most common sights in Indonesian skies.
