About Malaysia Airlines
Malaysia Airlines traces its roots to Malayan Airways, founded in 1947 in Singapore. After a period as Malaysia-Singapore Airlines, the company split in 1972, creating Malaysian Airline System, later shortened to Malaysia Airlines. The carrier was restructured under Malaysia Airlines Berhad in 2015 and has been a oneworld member since 2013.
From its Kuala Lumpur International hub the airline operates A350-900s and A330s on long-haul routes alongside 737-800s and 737 MAX 8s across Southeast Asia. Its logo is inspired by the wau bulan, a traditional Malaysian kite, and sister carrier Firefly feeds turboprop traffic from Subang, Kuala Lumpur's convenient downtown airport.
