About Air Austral

Air Austral is based on the French island of Réunion and took its current name in 1990, with earlier incarnations dating back to 1974. Operating from Roland Garros Airport near Saint-Denis, it grew from an Indian Ocean regional operator into a long-haul carrier connecting the island with metropolitan France.

Its Réunion to Paris services rank among the longest domestic flights in the world, since both ends lie on French territory, and are flown with Boeing 777-300ERs alongside 787-8s. Regional routes serve Mauritius, Mayotte, Madagascar and the Comoros, and the airline once ordered an 840-seat all-economy A380 configuration that never materialised.
