Uzbekistan Airways was founded in 1992 following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, inheriting Tashkent-based Aeroflot operations and aircraft. It modernised early by adding Western types alongside its Soviet-built fleet and has remained the flag carrier of Uzbekistan ever since.
From its Tashkent hub the airline operates Boeing 787 Dreamliners and Airbus A320neo family aircraft, having retired Ilyushin and Tupolev types it once flew. Its network links Central Asia with Europe, East Asia and the United States, including a long-standing New York service, plus domestic routes to Silk Road cities like Samarkand and Bukhara.
