Chengdu Airlines: History and Facts

Chengdu Airlines was founded in 2004 as United Eagle Airlines and took its current name in 2010 after Sichuan Airlines and Comac took stakes in the company. The Chengdu-based carrier became closely tied to China's domestic aircraft programme through its Comac shareholding.

In 2016 Chengdu Airlines became the world's first operator of the Comac ARJ21 regional jet, now designated C909, which it flies alongside Airbus A320 family aircraft. From hubs at Chengdu's two airports it serves a dense Chinese domestic network, offering sim pilots a rare chance to represent Chinese-built airliners.
