Airline Profile

European Air Transport: History and Facts

European Air Transport traces its origins to a Belgian carrier founded in 1971 that became a dedicated express operator for DHL. The operation moved to Germany in 2010 as European Air Transport Leipzig, wholly owned by DHL, and today forms a core part of the express company's European air network.

The hub is Leipzig/Halle, DHL's principal European sorting center, from which the airline flies overnight freighter waves across Europe and beyond. The fleet has centered on Airbus A300-600 freighters, with A330 freighters added, all in DHL's yellow and red. Night departures, tight sort-driven schedules and secondary airports give sim pilots an authentic cargo rhythm.
