Danish Air Transport (DAT) was founded in 1989 and is based in Vamdrup, Denmark. What began as a small charter and cargo operator has grown into one of Scandinavia's most versatile regional airlines, flying scheduled domestic services in Denmark, public service obligation routes in Norway, and ad-hoc charter work across Europe. The airline is perhaps best known for connecting the island of Bornholm with the Danish mainland and for keeping smaller Scandinavian communities linked to the wider network.
DAT operates a fleet centred on the ATR 42 and ATR 72 turboprops, well suited to the short runways and thin routes it serves, and has also operated Airbus narrowbodies for charter flying. Its colourful pinwheel livery and red DAT titles are a familiar sight at regional airports from Copenhagen to the Norwegian coast.
