About Air Astana

Air Astana was founded in 2001 as a joint venture between the Kazakh state and BAE Systems, and flew its first service in May 2002. It became Kazakhstan's flag carrier, launched the low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan in 2019, and completed an initial public offering with listings in London, Astana and Almaty in 2024.

From twin hubs at Almaty and Astana, the airline flies Airbus A320neo family jets, including long-range A321LRs, alongside Boeing 767s on trunk routes. The network stretches from Western Europe to East Asia and India, crossing the steppe and mountain terrain of Central Asia. Winter operations at Astana, one of the coldest capitals on earth, are notably demanding.
