About LATAM Airlines Chile

LATAM Airlines Chile began in 1929 as LAN Chile, the state national airline, and was privatized in 1989. Under the Cueto family it expanded across South America, and its 2012 merger with Brazil's TAM created LATAM, the continent's largest airline group, with the Chilean unit at its historical core.

From Santiago the airline operates Boeing 787s and Airbus A320 family jets across the Americas, Europe and Oceania. Its route to Easter Island is one of the most isolated scheduled services on earth, roughly 3,700 kilometers from the mainland over open Pacific. The indigo and coral LATAM livery replaced the old LAN blue after the group rebrand.
