About Martinair Holland
Martinair was founded in Amsterdam in 1958 by Martin Schröder as Martin's Air Charter, starting with a single small aircraft. It became a well-known Dutch charter and leisure carrier, was gradually absorbed by KLM, which took full ownership in 2008, and ended passenger flights in 2011 to concentrate entirely on cargo.
Today Martinair flies Boeing 747-400 freighters from Amsterdam Schiphol under the Air France KLM Martinair Cargo banner, hauling flowers, horses and outsize freight on routes to the Americas, Africa and Asia. For sim pilots it offers something increasingly rare: scheduled four-engine 747 freighter operations into and out of Schiphol.
