About SalamAir
SalamAir was set up in 2016 by the Muscat National Development and Investment Company and flew its first service on 30 January 2017, becoming Oman's first low cost carrier. It was created to open up domestic travel within the Sultanate and to give Muscat direct links to the Gulf and South Asia at lower fares. The Government of Oman took a 90 percent stake in March 2026.
The airline flies an all Airbus fleet of six A320neo and nine A321neo aircraft, plus a single A321P2F freighter, from its base at Muscat International. Its network covers around 41 destinations across the Gulf, South Asia, East Africa, Turkey and central Europe, with roughly 90 flights a day. A second base at Salalah opened for the winter 2026 season.
