About Azores Airlines
Azores Airlines began in 1990 as SATA Internacional, the international arm of the Azorean carrier SATA, and was rebranded Azores Airlines in 2015. Based at Ponta Delgada on São Miguel, it connects the mid-Atlantic archipelago with mainland Portugal, Europe and North American cities that are home to large Azorean communities.
The fleet is built around the Airbus A321neo and long-range A321LR, types well suited to thin transatlantic routes such as Boston and Toronto. One A321neo wears a striking sperm whale livery honouring the islands' whale-watching heritage, and Atlantic weather at Azorean airports gives approaches genuine sporting interest.
