About Seaborne Airlines

Seaborne Airlines is a United States Virgin Islands carrier founded in 1992, best known for the harbour-to-harbour seaplane shuttle between Christiansted on St Croix and Charlotte Amalie on St Thomas. The de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter lifts off from the water in the middle of one town and lands in the middle of the other roughly twenty five minutes later, a service islanders have used as everyday transport for more than three decades. Over the years the airline also built a land network from San Juan with Saab 340s under codeshare arrangements with larger carriers.

The company was acquired by Silver Airways in 2018. When Silver ceased operations and liquidated in June 2025, Seaborne continued flying, and today it concentrates on the seaplane shuttle that made its name, operating from Christiansted Harbor with a small Twin Otter fleet. It remains the only scheduled seaplane operator in the Caribbean.
