About Aurora
Aurora was created in November 2013 by government order, bringing together two Far Eastern carriers that were already inside the Aeroflot group, SAT Airlines of Sakhalin and Vladivostok Avia. It began flying on 8 December 2013 as the dedicated regional airline for the Russian Far East, and is now held by the region itself rather than by Aeroflot.
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is the headquarters, with bases at Khabarovsk and Vladivostok. The fleet mixes Airbus A319s with De Havilland Dash 8 turboprops and Superjet 100s across roughly 30 destinations. A large part of the network is lifeline flying to small fields on Sakhalin, the Kurils, Kamchatka and Primorye that no other carrier serves.
