About Winair
Winair, formally Windward Islands Airways, was founded in 1961 on Sint Maarten and has served the northeastern Caribbean ever since. Government-owned for much of its history, it became the essential scheduled link between Sint Maarten and the small islands surrounding it.
Winair's DHC-6 Twin Otters operate from Princess Juliana International Airport, famous for its beach approach, to islands including Saba, home to the world's shortest commercial runway at about 400 metres, and the cliffside strip at Sint Eustatius. Few airlines offer more challenging short-field flying for simulator pilots.
