About Air Inuit

Air Inuit was founded in 1978 and is collectively owned by the Inuit of Nunavik through the Makivik Corporation, making it one of Canada's notable Indigenous-owned airlines. It was created to guarantee reliable air links for communities along Hudson Bay and Ungava Bay in northern Quebec, where no roads connect the villages.

From its Montreal base, Air Inuit serves gravel strips in communities such as Puvirnituq, Kuujjuaq and Salluit using Dash 8 turboprops, including combi variants that carry freight and passengers together. It long operated gravel-kitted Boeing 737-200s, among the last in commercial service, and its harsh-weather short-runway operations are prized challenges for sim pilots.
