About Aeromexico

Aeromexico was founded in 1934 as Aeronaves de México, becoming the country's flag carrier and absorbing numerous domestic airlines over the decades. It was a founding member of SkyTeam in 2000, restructured through a US Chapter 11 process between 2020 and 2022, and operates today in a deep joint venture with Delta Air Lines.

Mexico City's high-altitude hub, at over 7,300 feet elevation, shapes performance-limited departures that sim pilots appreciate. The fleet combines Boeing 787-8s and 787-9s on routes to Europe, Asia and South America with 737-800s and MAX aircraft domestically, plus Embraer 190s at regional arm Aeromexico Connect. A 787 wears a special Quetzalcoatl-inspired livery.
