About Smartavia

Smartavia goes back to the Arkhangelsk United Aviation Squadron of 1963 and became an independent airline in 1991. Aeroflot took a majority stake in 2004 and ran it as Aeroflot-Nord, after which it traded as Nordavia. A merger with Red Wings was proposed and then dropped, and the Smartavia name and low fare model followed in 2019.

Arkhangelsk is the home city, with bases at Saint Petersburg Pulkovo and Moscow Sheremetyevo. The fleet is around a dozen aircraft, mainly Boeing 737-700s and 737-800s with a pair of Airbus A320neos. About 50 destinations are served, weighted towards the Russian north, Kaliningrad and the Volga region.
