About Azul
Azul was founded in 2008 by David Neeleman, who had earlier created JetBlue, and began flying in December that year. Naming rights went to a public vote, producing the Portuguese word for blue. It merged with regional carrier TRIP in 2012 and grew into one of Brazil's three major airlines.
Azul serves more Brazilian cities than any other airline, with hubs at Campinas Viracopos, Belo Horizonte Confins and Recife. The fleet is unusually diverse: Embraer E195-E2s, Airbus A320neos, A330neos on international routes, ATR 72s, and Cessna Caravans reaching tiny interior strips. That range, from Amazon towns to Lisbon and Fort Lauderdale, suits many sim styles.
