About Mahan Air

Mahan Air was founded in 1991 in Kerman and started flying in June 1992 as the first privately owned airline in Iran, beginning with two Tupolev Tu-154M aircraft on domestic routes. It moved the centre of its operation to Tehran during the 2000s and built a widebody network while most of its domestic rivals stayed narrowbody.

The airline works from two Tehran bases, Imam Khomeini International and Mehrabad, and reaches around 26 domestic and 16 international destinations across nine countries. Its fleet is unusual for its age and variety, built on Airbus A340-300 and A340-600 aircraft alongside A310s, A300s, a BAe 146 and Avro RJ sub fleet and a Boeing 747-400.
