Georgian Airways started in 1993 as Airzena and has been the country's principal airline since, flying from Tbilisi under the callsign TAMAZI. It took on the national carrier role as the Soviet era Georgian operators wound down, and today mixes scheduled international services with government and charter flying.
Ten aircraft are in service: Boeing 737 Classic and Next Generation narrowbodies alongside Bombardier CRJ200s that cover the thinner routes. About 16 destinations are served from Tbilisi International, Amsterdam among them, and the regional jets handle the short sectors where a 737 would be too much aeroplane.
