Air Tanzania Joins the Network

Air Tanzania has been added to the network at the request of a member. The airline was formed on 11 March 1977 out of the collapse of East African Airways and started flying that June. It has been wholly state owned since the government bought back South African Airways' 49 percent stake in 2006, and a fleet renewal that began in 2016 replaced an ageing operation with new Airbus and Boeing equipment.

It flies under ICAO code ATC and the callsign TANZANIA from Julius Nyerere International in Dar es Salaam, with further bases at Kilimanjaro, Mwanza and Zanzibar. 133 routes have been imported from the live schedule, covering 38 airports in 17 countries. Sixteen of those airports are inside Tanzania and thirteen were not on the network before, so Arusha, Bukoba, Dodoma, Geita, Iringa, Kigoma, Mbeya, Mtwara, Mwanza, Pemba, Songea, Sumbawanga and Tabora have been added along with the airline.

Fifteen aircraft came with it: five De Havilland Dash 8-400s, four Airbus A220-300s, three Boeing 787-8s, two Boeing 737 MAX 9s and one Boeing 767-300F for cargo. Beyond the domestic network the schedule reaches Nairobi, Entebbe, Bujumbura, Lusaka, Harare, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos, Accra, the Seychelles, Dubai, Muscat, Mumbai, Guangzhou and Moscow.
