Nine Russian Airlines Join the Network

Nine Russian airlines joined the network today, all of them suggested by one member through the contact form. Between them they add 1,833 routes, 220 aircraft and 27 airports that were not on the network before, and they fill in most of the map between Kaliningrad and Chukotka.

Utair (UTA / UT) is the widest of the nine by network, with 353 routes across 60 airports from Moscow Vnukovo, Surgut, Tyumen and Khanty-Mansiysk. Its 39 aircraft are the most varied set here: eleven Boeing 737-800s, thirteen 737-500s, two 737-400s and thirteen ATR 72-500s that work the small fields in the north.

Ural Airlines (SVR / U6) brings 350 routes and 53 destinations from Yekaterinburg Koltsovo and Moscow Domodedovo, reaching Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and China. The fleet is 44 aircraft and entirely Airbus: 22 A320s, fourteen A321s, four A319s, three A320neos and an A321neo.

Pobeda (PBD / DP) is Aeroflot's low cost arm and flies one type and one cabin. Forty two Boeing 737-800s cover 373 routes and 48 airports out of Moscow Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo, with services into Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Red Wings Airlines (RWZ / WZ) adds 218 routes and 55 airports from Zhukovsky, Yekaterinburg, Omsk and Saint Petersburg. Its 30 aircraft are 21 Superjet 100s, six Tupolev Tu-204 and Tu-214s and three Boeing 777-200ERs, so it is the only operator here flying Tupolev metal. Batumi and Tbilisi carry a large share of the flying.

Nordwind Airlines (NWS / N4) is the leisure carrier of the Pegas Touristik group, with 161 routes and 40 airports. Saint Petersburg and Kazan carry more of its flying than Moscow does. The 21 aircraft cover Boeing 737-800s, Airbus A321s and A321neos, A330-200s and A330-300s, a Boeing 777-200ER and a 777-300ER.

Yakutia Airlines (SYL / R3) flies 123 routes across 32 airports from Yakutsk, Moscow Vnukovo and Khabarovsk, including four points in northern China. It runs a small fleet of six: two Boeing 737-800s, a 737-700, two Superjet 100s and a Dash 8-300 for the short northern sectors.

Smartavia (AUL / 5N) works from Arkhangelsk, Saint Petersburg Pulkovo and Moscow Sheremetyevo with 110 routes and 22 airports, all of them domestic. Its ten aircraft are eight Boeing 737-800s and two 737-700s in a single cabin layout.

Yamal Airlines (LLM / YC) is the smallest network of the nine at 94 routes and fifteen airports, and the most concentrated: Salekhard, Novy Urengoy, Nadym, Noyabrsk and Tyumen, the gas towns of the Yamalo-Nenets district. Twenty three aircraft, mostly Superjet 100s alongside eight Airbus A320s and a CRJ-200.

Ikar (KAR / EO) is Nordwind's sister company and flies 51 routes over 26 airports on five aircraft: two Boeing 737-900ERs, two Embraer 190s and a Boeing 777-200ER. Its schedule is the one Nordwind sells under N4 numbers, so the two networks overlap almost entirely and the flights are filed under whichever airline actually operates them.

Twenty seven airports came with these schedules. Most are Russian regional fields that had no service on the network before: Nalchik, Magas, Stavropol, Astrakhan, Kirov, Kurgan, Cheboksary, Yaroslavl, Ukhta, Usinsk, Naryan-Mar, Kogalym, Nyagan, Uray, Beloyarsky, Sovetsky, Igrim, Ust-Kut, Ust-Nera, Chokurdakh and Cherskiy. Beyond Russia there are Ganja in Azerbaijan, Gyumri in Armenia, Sukhum, Karshi in Uzbekistan, Kulob in Tajikistan, and Pyongyang Sunan, which Nordwind serves from Vladivostok.

Two notes on the fleets. Aircraft in long term storage are left off, so a few of these fleets are smaller than the numbers an operator publishes: Ikar and Yakutia in particular fly a handful of airframes each. Smartavia's two Airbus A320neos are stored and are not on its books here.
