SalamAir Joins the Network

07 Sep 2026 · JetStream Virtual

SalamAir has been added to the network at the request of a member. The airline was set up in 2016 by the Muscat National Development and Investment Company and flew its first service on 30 January 2017, becoming Oman's first low cost carrier. It was created to open up domestic travel within the Sultanate and to connect Muscat to the Gulf and South Asia at lower fares. The Government of Oman took a 90 percent stake in March 2026.

It flies under ICAO code OMS and the callsign MAZOON from Muscat International. 129 routes have been imported from the live schedule, covering 40 airports in 20 countries. Thirty six of those legs stay inside Oman, linking Muscat with Salalah, Duqm, Masirah and Sohar. Four airports were not on the network before and have been added with the airline: Duqm, Masirah and Sohar in Oman, and Osmani International at Sylhet in Bangladesh.

Sixteen aircraft came with it: nine Airbus A321neo, six A320neo and one A321P2F freighter. Beyond Oman the schedule reaches Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina, Dammam, Abha, Kuwait, Sharjah and Baghdad, then Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar and Sialkot, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow and Calicut, Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet, Colombo, Bangkok and Medan, and Almaty, Trabzon, Vienna, Sarajevo, Giza, Nairobi, Kigali, Mogadishu and Port Sudan.

SalamAir opened a second base at Salalah for the winter 2026 season, so the Salalah routes are worth watching as the schedule sync refreshes.
