KLM Royal Dutch Airlines was founded in 1919, making it the world's oldest airline still operating under its original name. It opened the Amsterdam to London route in 1920 and pioneered intercontinental flying to the Dutch East Indies. In 2004 KLM merged with Air France, forming the Air France-KLM group while retaining its identity.
From its Amsterdam Schiphol hub, KLM operates Boeing 777s and 787s alongside Airbus A330s and a renewing narrowbody fleet, with Cityhopper Embraers feeding the network. Business class passengers on intercontinental flights receive miniature Delft Blue houses filled with genever, a tradition dating to the 1950s. The light blue livery is among the most recognizable in aviation.
