Red Wings Airlines dates to 1999 and took its present name in 2007. It built its reputation on the Tupolev Tu-204 and later came under Ilyushin Finance ownership, which kept it flying Russian built types when most of the industry had moved to Airbus and Boeing equipment.
Zhukovsky outside Moscow is the base, with further bases at Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Saint Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. Around 30 aircraft are in service, mostly Superjet 100s alongside Tu-204 and Tu-214 aircraft and three Boeing 777-200ERs. Yekaterinburg and Batumi carry the heaviest flying, and the airline is due to be the first operator of the Ilyushin Il-114-300.
