About Emirates
Emirates was founded in 1985 in Dubai, launching with two aircraft leased from Pakistan International Airlines on routes to Karachi and Mumbai. Backed by Dubai's government but run commercially, it grew with the emirate's rise as a global crossroads into one of the world's largest international airlines.
Emirates is the world's largest operator of both the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 777, flying an all-widebody fleet from its Dubai hub. Its network connects six continents through Dubai's around-the-clock banks, and ultra-long-haul routes such as Dubai to Auckland rank among the longest flights in the world.
