Flight Rules & Standards
JetStream Virtual maintains operational standards to ensure a realistic and fair experience for all pilots. Please familiarise yourself with these rules.
General Rules
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Real-time only | All flights must be flown in real-time (1x speed). Time acceleration, time skipping, and slew mode are not permitted during tracked flights. |
| Correct airports | You must depart from the booked departure airport and land at the booked destination (or a valid diversion alternate). |
| Active tracking | vmsACARS must be running and connected throughout the entire flight, from blocks off to blocks on. |
| One flight at a time | You may only have one active flight in progress at any time. |
| Complete the flight | Flights should be completed in a single session. Pausing for extended periods (more than 30 minutes) may result in the PIREP being flagged. |
Acceptable Practices
- Brief simulator pauses — Pausing for a few minutes (e.g., to answer the door) is acceptable
- Weather diversions — If weather at your destination is below minimums, diverting to your alternate is proper procedure
- Go-arounds — Executing a go-around and re-attempting the approach is normal and expected when needed
- Emergency landings — If a genuine in-sim emergency requires landing at a different airport, contact an admin to have the PIREP adjusted
- Offline flying — You are not required to use online ATC networks (VATSIM, IVAO), though it’s encouraged
What Will Get a PIREP Rejected
- Time acceleration detected — ACARS monitors ground speed vs. aircraft capabilities; unrealistic speeds trigger rejection
- Teleportation / slew mode — Sudden large position changes are detected and flagged
- Wrong airports — Departing from or landing at airports not matching the booked flight (without valid diversion reason)
- Incomplete flights — PIREPs filed without a proper landing or with missing data
- Duplicate flights — Flying the same route multiple times without rebooking
Rank Progression
Ranks at JetStream Virtual are based on total accumulated flight hours:
- Your total hours are the sum of all accepted PIREPs (block time)
- When you reach the threshold for the next rank, you are automatically promoted
- Higher ranks may unlock access to larger aircraft types (e.g., widebody fleets)
- Your rank and hours are displayed on your profile and in the pilot roster
Online Flying Networks
While not required, we encourage flying on VATSIM or IVAO for a more immersive experience with live ATC and other traffic. When flying on a network:
- Use your JetStream Virtual callsign
- Follow the network’s rules and procedures
- vmsACARS works alongside network clients without conflict
